Changes are under way at Belle Vernon Public Library.

Nancy Komlos, 68, of North Belle Vernon recently retired after serving her community for more than 35 years.

Komlos began her library career in 1983 as a volunteer, before being hired just a few months later.

“My son was just 2 years old at the time, so I would come up here with the kids and get books for them,” Komlos said. “I loved to read myself, so I’ve been here ever since.”

A Georgia native, Komlos met her husband, Michael Komlos, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. The couple moved to the Mid-Mon Valley in 1973 and had two children, Keri Zipay, 42, and Matthew Komlos, 37.
