Following his team’s 13-0 win over Ringgold on Tuesday, Elizabeth Forward head coach Harry Rutherford was quick to focus on their next opponent.
The veteran coach stressed the importance of Thursday’s Section 2-4A showdown with West Mifflin, knowing his team was faced with a serious challenge from a team putting its unblemished record on the line.
Expectations became a reality for Rutherford and the Warriors as they broke a close game open in the late innings of a 5-2 victory over the Titans at William Penn Field.
“Everything we expected happened,” Rutherford said. “Hats off to West Mifflin because they played well and caught some balls that other teams don’t catch on us. Our juniors and seniors came through in big-time situations and that is what we expect them to do.”
