A Forward Township tradition and one of the best-attended summer events in the Mon Valley is in jeopardy of being canceled.
Forward Township Supervisor Ron Skrinjorich said the annual Community Days weekend, set for Aug. 17-18, might not happen this year unless more volunteers step up to help.
The event, which started seven years ago, attracts thousands of families and residents throughout the Mon Valley for two days of food, fun and entertainment.
It takes about 70 volunteers to pull off such a large event, and Skrinjorich said only 35 have signed up.
“If we can’t find the people willing to donate some of their time, this great event will have to be canceled,” he said. “I am not sure what other choice we have.”
