Alex Glumac’s arm and bat helped carry Serra Catholic past Class 3A Freeport, 4-2, in nonsection play at Boston Field Monday.

Glumac pitched six solid innings for the Eagles (5-1), allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out 10.

The junior, who went 3 for 4 at the plate, set down 14 straight batters before an error and a pair of Freeport hits ended his day in the seventh.

“He had it all going today until that last inning when he struggled a bit, but he kept his pitch count low and was very efficient out there, working ahead in the count,” Serra Catholic head coach Brian Dzurenda said. “He had a good changeup and a good fastball as well. I’ve been really pleased with our pitching this whole year, we haven’t had a bad outing yet.”
