Irene Varga Kretchun Monongahela

Irene Varga Kretchun, age 84, of Monongahela, died Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Norbert Personal Care in Pittsburgh. Irene was born in Monessen, on April 9, 1934, the daughter of Michael and Mary Varga. She was a member of the St. Michael Byzantine Rite Catholic Church of Donora. Irene was a graduate of Monessen High School Class of 1952. She worked at First Federal Savings and Loan in Monessen for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Kretchun; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Jeanne Kretchun of Monongahela; a son, Kenneth (Lana) Kretchun of Lawrenceville; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Varga of Monessen and Laverne Varga of Carroll Township; a brother-in-law, Steve (Gloria) Kretchun of Bethel Park; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900. Private services and interment will be held be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, at the convenience of the family. The family suggests that memorial donations in Irene’s name may be made to the Salvation Army Mon Valley Citadel, 308 Schoonmaker Ave., Monessen, PA 15062.
