A Monessen Hilltop firefighter whose social media activity sparked a heated debate at Thursday’s council meeting denies her comments were racially motivated.
Volunteer firefighter Albany Deiley, 18, of Belle Vernon attended the meeting with Dan Sinsley, first captain of Monessen Hilltop and president of its board.
“Some of the things that were said at the board meeting were absolutely wrong,” Deiley said Friday. “It’s just a big mess and my name being out there is really embarrassing.”
Sinsley spoke on Deiley’s behalf, defending her against Monessen resident Caleb Kolbeck’s claims that her recent Facebook posts displayed racial bias.
