It’s been over a decade since Dan Kupets was the winning skipper in a high school baseball game. Thursday, the wait came to an end.
Frazier bounced back from an early four-run deficit and rallied to hold on for a 9-8 win over Monessen at Memorial Stadium.
The Greyhounds loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Commodores freshman Dom Dorcon got Monessen’s Vinnie Rhome to strike out looking to end the game.
“Dom got himself into trouble there. We had a guy with a 1-2 count and 0-2 and he hit them both,” Kupets said. “But he battled back and did a great job to get the last out.
“We came out with a lot of enthusiasm and we were aggressive at the plate today, a lot better compared to how we played yesterday.”
