Beatrice M. Noyes Yakem – Galax, Va., formerly of Monessen

Beatrice M. Noyes Yakem, 94, of Galax, Va., formerly of Monessen, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019. She was born on May 7, 1924, in Oswego, N.Y., daughter of the late William and Eliza Godden Noyes. While serving her country in World War II, she met her husband, George Yakem. After their time in the service she returned with him to settle in Monessen, where she was a member of St. John The Divine Russian Orthodox Church, worked at the Monessen Public Library, was on the Ladies Auxiliary for the Monessen Eagles and V.F.W. and was also a member of the American Legion. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy (William) Glover of Galax, Va.; grandson John and wife Randi Glover; granddaughter, Vanessa Glover and Dereck Galyean; three great-grandchildren, Viktoriya Jennings, Jaxon Glover and Liam Galyean; special nephews, George Hartung III, Ronald and Toni Dujack; five sisters, one brother, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC. 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where visitation will be held from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A parastas service will be held in the funeral home at 6 p.m. Sunday. Additional visitation will be held in St. John the Divine Russian Orthodox Church from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday with 10 a.m. the hour of the service with the Very Rev. Constantine Curchin. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. For those attending the funeral please go directly to the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion or the Monessen Public Library thru the funeral home. On line condolences are accepted at www.rhomefuneralhome.com.
