Three-run fifth inning lifts Trojans past Eagles

Serra Catholic pitcher Alex Glumac cruised through the first four innings with relative ease Wednesday afternoon.
Aside from a second inning walk and an error on Jayden Mertz in the third, the junior right-hander was able to hold California hitless and off the basepaths.
Confidence was something the Trojans were lacking at the plate until the fifth inning came around.
That is when California’s offense came alive, scoring three runs that made the difference in a 3-1 season opening win against the Eagles in nonsection play at Malden Yards.
