Godzak’s homer pushes BVA past Rams

It’s obvious the Belle Vernon Area softball team is built a little differently this year.

But don’t be fooled, the Leopards can still play on the diamond.

The Leopards brought out the sticks with back-to-back home runs in the top of the eighth inning to hand Ringgold a 5-3 extra inning loss in the Section 2-4A opener for both teams.

Sophomore Sophie Godzak put in the work for BVA (1-0, 1-0), pitching the team to the win and providing the game-winning runs with a two-run blast over the center field fence to put her team ahead for good, right into the waiting hands of her dad near the stands.
