Residents packed the meeting room at Elizabeth Learning Center Tuesday night to welcome the new leader of the Elizabeth Borough Police Department.
Council voted 6-0 to appoint William Sombo as borough police chief, beginning a new chapter for the department.
The oath of office was administered by Mayor Barry Boucher during Tuesday’s council meeting.
“I am prepared to take this endeavor on full force, and I am ready to go,” Sombo said after the session. “People are going to be happy with what they see. I’m not here to disappoint anybody, especially this community.”
