Sara Foster has two goals: allowing her 9-year-old daughter Olivia “to be a kid first” and finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

Olivia was diagnosed March 14, 2016, when she was 6 years old.

Weighing just 37 pounds, she was taken to the hospital with her sugar level climbing to almost 700.

In Type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. The body breaks down the carbohydrates into blood glucose, which it uses for energy.
