Pitching, Black’s bomb lead Eagles

In its first two games of the season over the weekend, the Serra Catholic baseball team had no shortage of offense or pitching.

Back at their home field in Boston Tuesday, the Eagles didn’t have the same success at the plate but found a way to prevail thanks to a pair of hurlers.

Two runs were all they needed as the duo of Dom DeMoss and Logan Exler combined to throw a four-hit shutout in a 2-0 nonsection victory over Mohawk.

“We haven’t given up an earned run in three games, so that’s a good sign,” Serra Catholic head coach Brian Dzurenda said. “I told the kids when you don’t play your best and you get wins, and they’re 2-0 wins, that’s the sign of a good ballclub. I am very pleased with the way things went.”
