An ongoing Monessen road construction project continues to impact downtown businesses.

PennDOT officials have hosted meetings with elected officials, city residents and business owners to give updates on the Donner Avenue project, which has left large portions of state Route 906 torn apart and covered in debris for about two years.

PennDOT District 12 community relations coordinator Valerie Petersen said Friday that the entire project, which has been sub-contracted to Morgan Excavating, is tentatively slated for completion at the end of August.

“Crews are currently replacing the inlets on the right shoulder, and traffic is flowing in the dead lane, which is usually restricted,” Petersen said. “Both lanes are open when the crews aren’t working at night, and there are no restrictions.”
