Dr. Michele Dowell will not be leaving Belle Vernon Area School District after all.

Dowell has accepted the position of BVA superintendent and has turned down the position she accepted last month at Ringgold School District.

On Feb. 20, Dowell, who has served as acting superintendent at BVA for nearly a year, accepted the position of curriculum director at Ringgold. Later that night, she released the information that she would be resigning her post at BVA.

At the time, Dowell said she loved the BVA administration but was excited for a new opportunity. Dowell said she would stay on at BVA to help with the transition to a new superintendent.

Ringgold Superintendent Megan Marie Van Fossan said Dowell notified the district Wednesday morning.
