Joll, Vargo cap off careers at Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic

The WPIAL all-stars were trailing the New York all-stars, 15-12, in the preliminary match at the 35th annual Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic Friday night.
That was until Belle Vernon Area’s Scott Joll took the mat for his 182-pound bout at the University of Pittsburgh’s Fitzgerald Field House.
Joll used a takedown and nearfall to go up 4-0 in the first period against Patrick Welsh of Olean High School.
Welsh, a Citadel recruit, then chose the down position to open the second period.
