Adela E. Alvarez, 83, of Monessen, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019, in Jefferson Hospital. She was born on March 26, 1935, in Monessen, the daughter of the late Jose and Adela Perez Alvarez. Adela was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a 1953 graduate of Monessen High School. She worked for the former G.C. Murphy Co., Fox Grocery Co. and retired from Watterau Inc. Adela was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and was an active member of the Monessen community. She is survived by her sister, Gloria Vasunda of Carroll Township; a brother and sister-in-law, Antonio “Tony” and Joyce Alvarez of Rostraver Township; sister-in-law, Lena Alvarez of Monessen; and by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph “Speed” Alvarez and Herman Alvarez; and by a sister, Marie Alvarez Mull. Friends will be received in DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2019, beginning with a 9:30 a.m. blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd., Monessen, with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Entombment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery Mausoleum. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
