Vincentina ‘Vincenza’ Simak – McKeesport

Vincentina “Vincenza” Simak, age 88, of McKeesport, died March 10, 2019, at UPMC Presbyterian. Born Aug. 8, 1930, in Glassport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosalia Sinatra Como, and the wife of Richard J. Simak, Sr. Vincentina retired from St. Frances Hospital, where she was a registered nurse and also a part-time nurse for the McKeesport Area School District. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church and the former Sacred Heart Church, where she was a past president of the Christian Mother’s and a member of the Catholic Woman’s Club. She was also past president of the following: Glassport Young Woman’s Club, McKeesport PTA and Serra Catholic Women. Vincentina was an avid Bridge player and member of the American Contract Bridge League, where she received the Gold Life Masters Achievement Award in 2015. In addition to Bridge, her greatest joy was entertaining for her family and friends. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her children, Deborah Simak of Pittsburgh and James (Theresa) Simak of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Zachary Holtzman, Christina Stifler, Elizabeth Eger and Andrew Simak; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Lia and Zachary Jr.; nieces and nephews, Patty, Paula, Judy, Tom, Nancy, David, Miriam, Diane and Joey. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Jr.; siblings, Joseph Como Jr. and Madalen Minydzak. Family and friends will be received at JAYCOX-JAWORSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 2703 O’Neil Blvd., McKeesport, PA 15132, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, 1 p.m. at Corpus Christi Church. Inurnment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery of Port Vue.
