Charleroi changing code agency

By Mon Valley Independent

Charleroi Council unanimously agreed Wednesday to begin looking for a new code enforcement agency.

The decision comes after a fire March 2 at a Fallowfield Avenue home that killed 62-year-old James Harbaugh.

Firefighters found 11 oxygen tanks and piles of cigarette butts throughout the home, which Fire Chief Robert Whiten Jr. said was in deplorable condition.

The water has been shut off at the property since 2014, and it’s unclear how long gas service had been shut off.
