Lawrence golden again

Frazier’s Thayne Lawrence is raised up by officials as the victor over Kane’s Alec English in the 160-pound championship final during the PIAA state wrestling tournament on Saturday at the Giant Center in Hershey. Lawrence now holds two PIAA state titles.

The title of two-time state champion now belongs to Frazier’s Thayne Lawrence.
The junior standout picked up his second gold medal in as many years at the PIAA Class 2A Championships at the Giant Center in Hershey over the weekend.
Lawrence (29-3), the top seed at 160 pounds, defeated Kane’s Alex English, 7-2, in the 160 2A Final.
Seeded second, English (35-2) was the champ of Pennsylvania’s Northwest region.
In the final, Lawrence used two takedowns and an escape to go up 5-0 midway through the match. English narrowed the lead to 5-2 with two escapes of his own before a late Lawrence takedown sealed the win.
