Local wrestlers set for PIAA championships

The biggest weekend in Pennsylvania high school wrestling is upon us and the Mon Valley is well represented.
Five wrestlers from four local schools will compete for a state championship at the Giant Center in Hershey beginning today through Saturday.
Juniors Thayne Lawrence of Frazier and Ryan Michaels of Elizabeth Forward are fresh off WPIAL and SW Regional 2A Championships. Lawrence, the defending state champion at 152 pounds, is the top seed this time around at 160 pounds. Michaels is the third seed at 113.
