Mark Alterici is back on Charleroi council and he plans to hit the ground running.
During an agenda meeting on Wednesday, council unanimously voted to appoint the business owner and former councilman to fill a vacant seat left by Larry Celaschi on Feb. 13.
With about three years left on a four-year term, Celaschi submitted a lengthy letter of resignation hours before the February business meeting.
He was the third council member to unexpectedly resign within six months.
Randy DiPiazza resigned in September and was replaced by former Mayor Nancy Ellis. Debbie Buck left in November and was replaced by Martin Gassner.
Alterici was sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Larry Hopkins immediately after his appointment.
