Kaitlyn Riley’s collegiate basketball career didn’t exactly get off to the kind of start she envisioned when she signed her national letter of intent to play at Penn State-Fayette last year.

Five minutes into her first game against Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg on Nov. 9, the Charleroi graduate was sprinting back on defense when she felt something in her leg pull and snap.

Riley said the trainer informed her that she likely tore her hamstring completely.

The injury, which ended up being a grade 2 tear, caused Riley to miss five of her first six games. The lone game she played in was the 98-52 loss to Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg in which Riley was held scoreless.
