The third-seeded Ringgold hockey team begins its quest for the Penguins Cup tonight when it hosts No. 6 Central Valley in the first round of the PIHL Division 2 playoffs at Rostraver Ice Garden.
The puck will be dropped at 7:15 p.m.
“They are looking forward to it and they’ve been practicing really hard over the last two weeks since our last game (on Feb. 18),” Ringgold head coach Rick Kalinowski said. “We’re trying to get focused and trying to go in with the right attitude by playing smart.”
Central Valley capped off the regular season with an 8-10-2 record, scoring 64 goals and allowing 99. The Warriors, who have lost eight of their last 10 games, are averaging just over three goals per game and allowing nearly five.
