California Area High School will take audience members on an adventure of gigantic proportions when it debuts “James and The Giant Peach” at 7 p.m. Friday.
Directed by Jon Rohlf, the cast will use a minimalistic approach to tell the story of James, a young boy tasked by his aunts with chopping down an old fruit tree.
Before the job is done, he discovers a magic potion that grows an enormous peach.
James lands inside the peach surrounded by life-size insects, but then it falls from the tree into the ocean, leaving those inside with many problems including sharks, food and fights among themselves. The crew eventually lands on top of the Empire State Building, creating an entirely new problem for James and his family.
