Class 3A wrestling is back this weekend as 10 local athletes are set to compete in the WPIAL championships at Canon McMillan High School.

There will be 20 wrestlers in each of the 14 weight classes with the top four in each bracket advancing to next weekend’s PIAA state championships in Hershey.

The top eight wrestlers at each weight are seeded and the rest of the bracket is randomly filled. Belle Vernon seniors Scotty Joll and Logan Seliga are the only local competitors to get a seed. Joll is the second seed at 182 pounds, while Seliga is the third seed at 120 pounds.

Joll (29-6) is seeded behind Luke Stout (35-1) of Mt Lebanon. Stout beat Joll, 9-5, in last weekend’s Section 2 championship match. Joll won the 170-pound WPIAL crown a year ago and finished fifth in the state.
