Coming off their big senior day win over then-No. 3 IUP on Saturday, the California University women’s basketball team slipped up in Wednesday’s game on the road at nearby Seton Hill.
A letdown it was, but the Griffins came to play.
The Vulcans (22-4, 16-4) were outscored 52-30 in the second half as the Griffins rolled to a 73-60 win at the McKenna Center.
Head coach Jess Strom knew from the teams’ first meeting keeping hot-shooting Griffin Megan Marecic in check was going to be key for her team to pull out the win.
It didn’t happen.
Marecic, a graduate transfer from Drexel, finished with a game-high 30 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Seton Hill (17-10, 11-9).
Marecic was 6 of 11 from 3-point range. The Griffins as a team were 10 of 24 from deep in the contest.
