Penn State Greater Allegheny lab building to be renovated
For the MV Independent
Penn State Greater Allegheny’s Ostermayer Laboratory is set to undergo a $14 million renovation project in the spring of 2020 with a projected completion date of January 2021.
The Penn State Board of Trustees Committee on Finance, Business and Capital Planning accepted a proposal last week from Turner Construction Co. of Pittsburgh to be the design build team for the project.
Constructed in 1972, the 21,700-square-foot building houses two biology and two chemistry teaching laboratories, along with four research laboratory spaces, a laboratory preparation space, faculty and staff offices and one general purpose classroom.
The renovation project involves updating and installing state-of-the-art laboratory and safety equipment, research laboratories, common and collaborative spaces, additional classrooms, a multi-purpose room and a space for enhanced research.
