Mildred ‘LaRue’ Scrip – Stockdale

Mildred “LaRue” Scrip, 91, of Stockdale, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Charleroi on May 14, 1927, daughter of Bryson and Carrie Montague Schaefer. LaRue, as she was known, was Orthodox by faith. She was a member of the Roscoe Methodist Church, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 801 Roscoe, and the Charleroi Golden Agers. Surviving are her daughters, Sharon (Duane) Moore of Jackson, Tenn., and Marcy Walker of Coal Center; two grandchildren, Mitchell (Kristin) Walker and Sarah LaRue Walker; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Hudson Walker; her godchildren, William Podany and Dawn Hoffman; friends, Darlene Guzzi and Carol Robinson; and her longtime caretaker, Gloria Pierce. Preceded in death by her husband, Peter Scrip; son-in-law Ritchie Walker; and her best friend, Judy Barber. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Belle Vernon Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.melenyzer.com
