Penn State Greater Allegheny’s chancellor and chief academic officer Dr. Jacqueline Edmondson has been working to strengthen relations between the McKeesport campus and the communities that surround it.

That effort inspired her to join the board of directors for the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce last week.

The chamber is in the central business district of downtown Pittsburgh and has approximately 270 members.

“The PMAHCC Foundation is proud to welcome Dr. Jacqueline Edmondson to our board,” chairman Carmen Malloy said. “We believe that she has the talent and tools necessary to continue to strengthen our mission of serving the Hispanic community to make Pittsburgh a better region for all.”

A partnership between the chamber and Greater Allegheny began in 2018 when the two organizations helped seven exchange students from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez join Greater Allegheny’s community after Category 5 hurricanes Irma and Maria damaged their island school in 2017.
