Frank M. ‘Bud’ Shaffer – Bitner

Frank M. “Bud” Shaffer, 96, of Bitner, Dunbar, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at Country Care Manor.  Born Sept. 22, 1922, in Crucible, Pa., he was the son of the late George O. and Mary Thomas Shaffer. A resident of Bitner for over 70 years, Mr. Shaffer was Methodist by faith and was a retired warehouseman from the former Fox Grocery. He was a member of the Juniata Sportsman Club and the Perryopolis Sokols Club, enjoyed gardening, playing the banjo and listening to all types of music, especially bluegrass. Frank was always fixing things around the house, enjoyed working on vehicles, classic cars, spending time with his family and was always one to take time and talk with you. He is survived by daughter, Betty Zadrozny of Arnold City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank Shaffer Jr. and wife Phyllis of Florence, S.C., and Jeffrey and Barbara Shaffer of Dunbar; son-in-law, Tom Smith of Bitner; eight grandchildren, Mike Zadrozny, John Hoye, Jeffrey Shaffer Jr., Matthew Shaffer, Desire Shaffer, Nicole Shaffer, Devon Shaffer and Josie Konopa; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Shaffer and Andrew Shaffer, both of Canonsburg; and a sister, Dorothy Seese of Smock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Pearl McClelland Shaffer on Jan. 23, 2016; daughter, Karen Shaffer Hoye Smith; son, Frank Zadrozny; son-in-law, Frank “Zeke” Zadrozny; and four brothers, John, Jim, Walt and Chuck Shaffer. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS, family owned and operated, 191 Liberty St., Perryopolis, 724-736-2515. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations with Chaplain Josh Boyd of Medi Home Hospice officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. Washington Cemetery.
