Glassport Council president Elaina Skiba urged residents to defer complaints concerning the condition of West Fifth Avenue to the City of McKeesport.
“It is not a Glassport issue, it is a McKeesport issue,” she said.
Council brought up the road issue during Tuesday’s business meeting. Skiba said she is aware the road is bad and a resident has compared it to a jump in the classic television show “Dukes of Hazard.”
Mayor Keith DiMarco said McKeesport officials are aware of the problem but feel the problem is originating from Port Vue borough. “They think that a line coming from Port Vue is broken under the road and is coming from Port Vue. McKeesport is willing to fix the road but if the pipe isn’t fixed, the problem won’t go away.”
Councilman David Kowalski said he spoke with state Rep. Austin Davis, D-McKeesport, and is working on setting up a meeting between all three municipalities.
In other business, Councilman Thomas Bradley reminded residents the borough is determined to collect $68,000 in delinquent sewage bills.
“We got permission to turn off water to multiple-unit buildings. If three of your tenants are delinquent, the entire building will be shut off, even to residents in the building who have paid their bill. We will shut off the water and we will see you in court.”
