A week after arguing about the decision to eliminate committees on Donora borough council, members had a fast, seemingly tense meeting Thursday.

Last month, council President Jane Ackerman eliminated committees in order to run borough business through council as a whole. Ackerman has been participating in meetings via video chat while she recovers from a broken leg.

Last week, during a workshop meeting, Councilman Gib Szakal presented a job description for a code enforcement officer that his previous committee had been working on for several months.

Also during the workshop meeting, Szakal criticized the decision to keep former committee chairs as department heads. His position is that there either are committees or not, and he asked how borough business would be conducted without them.
