Belle Vernon Area High School students continue to work toward becoming impactful leaders through the Emerging Leadership program’s latest partnership.

Launched in October by Greater Rostraver Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Gina C. Lynn and BVA guidance counselor Dr. Stephanie McHugh, the program engages students in monthly sessions featuring guest speakers, off-site field trips and team-building activities.

Its goal is to inspire and empower juniors and seniors to take on leadership roles in their classrooms and communities, through connections with community leaders, business owners and professionals. The program curriculum covers such skills as problem-solving, team building, time management and collaborations to develop respect and trust.

In addition to the partnership the program fosters between the chamber and the school district, the J.R. Simplot Company of North Charleroi has stepped up to fund this year’s activities.
