Editorial: Charleroi doesn’t need another quitter

By Mon Valley Independent

WHAT’S GOING ON IN CHARLEROI?

For the third time in six months, Charleroi lost a member of council.

This time, it was Councilman Larry Celaschi who rendered his resignation hours before council met on Wednesday. It also happened to be Celaschi’s birthday, so he chose to celebrate with friends rather than deliver the resignation letter in person. He did manage to write an Academy Award-worthy resignation letter detailing his contributions to the borough and thanking his supporters.

His departure follows the resignations of council members Randy DiPiazza in September and Debbie Buck in November. Neither DiPiazza nor Buck was in attendance either when they resigned. DiPiazza left a note that simply said, “I quit,” while Buck attributed her business as a reason she couldn’t devote the proper time to continue serving on council.
