Despite flood warnings issued for the Mon Valley on Monday, changes in the forecast could mean area rivers will crest lower than their originally expected levels.
Meteorologist Pat Herald of the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh said rain in the area Tuesday night was only expected to bring about 1/10 of an inch of precipitation.
Leading into today, when river stages at Elizabeth and Charleroi were both forecast to be 6 to 12 inches over flood stage, temperatures will drop and scattered showers will turn into snow showers. Little to no accumulation is expected.
The NWS issued a flood warning Monday morning in anticipation of more than an inch of rain moving through the area Tuesday.
