A 49-year-old Monessen man is jailed on $75,000 bond after he allegedly held a rifle and attempted “suicide by cop” last week.
Joseph Selinger Jr. of First Street is charged with five counts of aggravated assault, six charges of recklessly endangering another person, two counts of making terroristic threats and one count each of resisting arrest, possession of an instrument of crime, disorderly conduct and harassment after the alleged incident on Knox Avenue just after 6 p.m. Thursday.
Pam Carlson called police that night claiming that a man later identified as Selinger, who was armed with a rifle, was threatening her from a neighboring backyard.
“As we made our way to the vacant lot, we observed a white male with longer hair kneeling down in the grass with a brown rifle in his hands,” Monessen police Officer Cody Klempay wrote in an affidavit of probable cause. “This male maintained a two-handed grip on the rifle with his right index finger on the trigger.
