EF girls draw fifth seed; Spirnak expected to play

Elizabeth Forward head coach Krystal Gibbs has seen her team accomplish a lot this season.
At one point the Warriors won eight consecutive games — and earned wins in nine of their last 11 contests — while claiming the Section 3-4A championship for the first time since 2015.
Gibbs hoped her team would earn the fourth seed for the WPIAL playoffs. Although she had to settle for No. 5, the veteran coach wasn’t disappointed after Tuesday’s WPIAL playoff pairings meeting.
The Warriors (15-7) will face No. 12 Knoch (9-13) at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Mt. Lebanon in the Class 4A bracket.
