Sewage authority approves nepotism policy after dispute

A new nepotism policy caused fireworks during a Mon Valley Sewage Authority meeting Monday.
Just minutes into the meeting, board members entered into an executive session that lasted more than 90 minutes. Yelling was occasionally heard coming from the closed-door meeting.
Upon resuming normal business, tempers continued to flare when board members Lewis Marraccini and Paul Berardelli moved to approve a nepotism policy that prohibits the authority from hiring relatives of board members and management staff.
Board member Yancey Taylor took issue with having the policy apply to both immediate and extended family members and not applying to part-time positions.
