Gloria M. Calcagni – West Newton

Gloria M. Calcagni, 92, of West Newton, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, in TLC Adult Care Center. Born in Rostraver Township on Aug. 13, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Julie (Vertacnik) Maleski. Gloria was a member of Holy Family Church West Newton, where she was active in the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She is survived by her sons, Amel (Sandra) Calcagni Jr. of Smithton and Ralph (Patty) Calcagni of Ruffs Dale; daughter, Janine (Pete) Laird of Collinsburg; grandchildren, Billy, Melissa, Brandon and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Izabella, Anastazia and Gianna. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amel E. Calcagni; grandson, Petey Laird; and brothers, Melvin and Stanley Maleski. Friends will be received from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Church with the Rev. James F. Bump as celebrant. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. The family would like to thank Stephanie and the staff of TLC for their compassion and care.
