MIDA railroad spurs up for sale?

By Mon Valley Independent

Donora officials say the Mon Valley Alliance is trying to sell railroad spurs in the borough at the MIDA Industrial Park.

Councilwoman Cindy Brice said Dyno Nobel Inc., an industrial and mining explosives manufacturer located in the MIDA park, has reached out to the borough asking for a meeting to discuss the situation.

Brice asked if the borough should alert the other industrial park tenants, some of whom came to the park — at least in part — because of the rail lines.

“The real interesting thing about this is that we’re just hearing about it now, because it does impact (the borough),” said solicitor Steve Toprani. “The reality is that the MVA is not giving us much information on this.”
