Elizabeth Township is starting over in its attempt to update its pipeline ordinance.
Township commissioners unanimously voted Monday to send the original version of the proposed ordinance back to the township and Allegheny County Planning Commissions for review and comment.
“We were passed the deadline under the MPC (Municipalities Planning Code) to enact that ordinance; it has to be within 90 days of the last public hearing,” Solicitor Matt Racunas said. “The idea from the commissioners is that since it has been so long since it has been looked at, we’ll basically start the process over. It’s much more simple that way.”
The board previously discussed adopting the ordinance, regulating pipeline construction and location, at a March 20, 2017, meeting.
