McKeesport earns playoff berth by topping BVA

The McKeesport girls basketball team clinched a playoff berth and completed a regular season sweep of Belle Vernon Area with a 53-38 Section 3-4A victory at the Neenie-Campbell Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers (10-7, 8-4), who have won seven of their last nine games, previously defeated BVA, 72-53, on Jan. 7.
McKeesport held a slim 24-18 lead at halftime before outscoring the Leopards, 29-20, in the second half.
Jhayla Bray led the way with a team-high 13 points while Nevaeh Stepanik and Laila Taylor scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
