An annual event aimed at making sure hungry families in White Oak and Versailles borough have food in their cupboards is slated for next month.
The White Oak Police Department and Mayor Ina Jean Marton announced they will join forces with Twin Oaks Restaurant and Lounge to host the seventh annual Tips for Cops event next month.
The event at the restaurant located in White Oak’s Rainbow Village Shopping Center will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Feb. 25.
During Tips for Cops, police officers from White Oak and Versailles boroughs, along with officers from several surrounding police departments will wait tables to earn tips. Afterwards, 100 percent of the proceeds from tips will be donated to the Cupboard Stretcher’s Food Pantry at Sampson’s Mills Church on Lincoln Way.
The fundraiser was the brainchild of White Oak police Sgt. Jessica Hetherington, and it grew from a an elaborate and dramatic dinner family prepared for two finicky eaters – her sons.
