Monessen moved one step closer to its sixth consecutive section title with a 97-63 throttling of Geibel Catholic in Section 2-A play Tuesday night.
In the lopsided victory, first-year Greyhounds head coach Dan Bosnic thought his team did things effectively in spurts.
“We were effective with pressure in spurts and we did a good job of moving the basketball and getting good shots in spurts,” Bosnic said. “The way we played the game, we didn’t play a full 32 minutes, but we were able to do enough within that time to be successful.”
Three players finished with over 20-plus points for the Greyhounds (11-7, 9-0). Marquell Smith poured in a team-high 24 points while Devin Whitlock and Dishon Howell each added 21.
