There are a few moments more special in the game of basketball than when a high school player scores their 1,000th career point.
For Serra Catholic senior Jimmy Moon, his special moment came in a 78-34 trouncing of Chartiers Houston in Section 2-2A action Friday night.
With just over two minutes to go in the game, Moon came to the free throw line needing just one point to reach the career milestone. He nailed both free throws and finished the game with a team-high 33 points and 1,001 points in his career.
“I’m just happy to get (my 1,000th point) honestly,” Moon said. “I was missing free throws early and when I came to the line that time I knew I couldn’t miss it. I owe it all to my teammates, they have been helping me since my freshman year. I have been playing with my teammate Chris (Salemi) since the second or third grade. I can’t score without the ball so I owe it all to them.”
