It’s ‘Souper Bowl’ Sunday for McKeesport church

The parishoners of Mc-Keesport Shared Ministries’ Beulah Park United Methodist Church say that although their favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, won’t be playing in Super Bowl LIII on Feb. 3, they are still getting into the Super Bowl spirit.

To be more accurate — they are getting into “the Souper Bowl spirit.”

On Sunday, in celebration of National Soup Appreciation Month, the church will be hosting its annual “Souper Bowl,” a soup-tasting sale.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Dream Center of Pittsburgh Mobile Food Pantry, which serves the communities that comprise the McKeesport Area School District, as well as several City of Pittsburgh neighborhoods.

The mission of the Pittsburgh Dream Center is to directly impact the issues that afflict Pittsburgh communities “by reconnecting people to God and a community of support by providing free human services that address immediate and long-term needs in the area of hunger, poverty, homelessness, education and human trafficking.”
