Woman sentenced in fatal stabbing

By Mon Valley Independent

By Megan Guza

A McKeesport woman who declared, “I’m sick of him,” after she stabbed her boyfriend to death in a South Side apartment building will spend at least 7½ years in prison, a judge ruled Thursday.

Cassandra Locke, 53, faces up to 15 years in prison for the Nov. 7, 2017, death of Daryl Waite at the Brew House Lofts. Allegheny County Judge Donna Jo McDaniel found her guilty of voluntary manslaughter last month in a non-jury trial.

“My cousin Sandy stabbed her boyfriend,” a witness told police when they arrived on scene, according to the initial criminal complaint.

Locke and Waite, 49, arrived at the witness’s apartment about 6 p.m., the witness said, and the trio shared a case of beer, according to the criminal complaint. She said Locke and Waite had a volatile relationship, which on that night was aggravated by the alcohol.
