Warriors hold off feisty Tigers

After beating McKeesport earlier in the season, Krystal Gibbs knew her Elizabeth Forward team would be in for a battle Thursday in its second round with the Tigers.

The game lived up to her expectations as the Warriors survived, 57-53, to remain in second place in Section 3-4A.

“We talked about this game before tonight and we said (McKeesport) is aggressive, physical and very well coached,” Gibbs said. “We knew what we were coming into, but it was an awesome game, back and forth game the whole time.”

Elizabeth Forward (11-5, 9-1) ran a full-court press to force four early turnovers, sparking a 5-0 run.
