George ‘Jerry’ Watson Jr. – Roscoe

George “Jerry” Watson Jr., 78, of Roscoe, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at Walnut Ridge Memory Care in Greensburg. Born in Charleroi, on Aug. 29, 1940, a son of George and Florence Brewer Watson Sr. Jerry was retired after 44 years of employment from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport. He was an U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea during peacetime. Jerry was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Roscoe. He was a member for 62 years of the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Dept., Roscoe American Legion Post No. 801, the Allenport Rod & Gun Club and the Roscoe Slovak Club. On Jan. 10, 1966 he married Barbara Schaming. They just celebrated 53 years of marriage. Besides his wife Barbara Watson, he is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Erin Watson III of Frostburg, Md.; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Peter Somma of Canonsburg; five grandchildren, Cameron, Caitlyn, George IV, Timothy and Matthew; and three sisters, Dolores Colditz and husband Charles of Allenport, Patty Klien of Stockdale and Judy Davis of Richeyville; also sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marie and Ottie Caruso of Charleroi and Charles and Verene Shaming of Belle Vernon. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Dora Lee Jones, Barbara Gregg and Loraine Ferrier. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where a funeral blessing will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, with the Rev. James Bump presiding. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard. The Roscoe Volunteer Fire Dept. will have services in the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by the Roscoe American Legion Post No. 801 at 7 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.melenyzer.com.
